Last night I came home from work. When I walked into the house, my daughter Bella screamed “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!” and ran on her knees to me and hugged me. We spent the next few minutes hugging and kissing while we rolled on the ground, with her laughing, giggling, and cooing the entire time. It was the human equivalent of how a puppy reacts when her master comes home from work. Then I spent the rest of the night playing video games with Tayler and Tyler. They loved it.

My priorities are wrong. Not evil, just wrong. It’s not like I spend my evenings drinking in a bar or surfing porn on the internet. Playing musical instruments, blogging, and learning foreign languages is all fine and dandy. But soon my daughter will not react like that. It won’t be the highlight of her day when I come home. And soon my little boys will be too busy to spend time with me. I need to cherish this time in my life and spend as much time as possible enjoying my children. The days will fly by and things will change.

And if anyone has seen my son Jacob (15) or my daughter Erica (18) tell them to read this blog post. I miss spending time with them.

These are words of wisdom, indeed. Children grow up in a twinkling. Enjoy every day with them.
    Love, Mom
