Thanks, Ben, that was awesome. Last night I attended a concert of Baroque music played with authentic baroque instruments. There were four musicians in the group, a wooden flute, violin, viola, and viola da gamba ( which looks like a cello). The viola da gamba is a seven stringed instrument that started out as a plucked instrument like the guitar, but then the bow was added later. It is held between the knees, but does not sit on the floor. It is held about six inches off the ground. The violin and viola do not have chin rests. The group had wonderful musicians and the instruments had lovely mellow sounds. I was glad I had ventured out in the freezing night to hear them. Mom
