More music I want to learn to play

November 10, 2012

I just love old country music. It tells some great stories. “I Aged 20 Years in Five” and “Ain’t Nobody Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone” by George Jones reminds me of what my life would have been like if I had never married Michelle.

Good morning, Ben, I just realized that you were talking about old time country music. I was thinking about what I played in the past which was old time music, also known as traditional music. Traditional music comes from the back woods of the Appalachian mountains. It has a rich history and evolved from Irish music as people from Ireland emigrated to America. Blue Grass music grew out of traditional music as people traveled around the country and were influenced in their music by other genres such as jazz and Dixieland. It is really a fascinating study. I am sure you already know more in the short time you have been looking at this area than I do. Have fun exploring and enjoying. Love, Mom
