800 meter drill

Frequent readers of this blog will no doubt notice I am always timing my workouts and trying to do them faster. No doubt that has it’s place, but it adds an unnecessary level of stress to the effort. Why not sometimes just enjoy the exercise without adding a lot of pressure to exceed previous marks? So, tonight I did three rounds of 800 meter runs with 3 minute rests, just timing the rests. This let me just enjoy the fall evening in Bakersfield, smelling hamburgers cooking and watching the sun set, without worrying about beating my previous times.

Nevertheless, I did keep up a brisk running pace. I felt like I was able to recover in the three minute breaks. I have come a very long way since I started CrossFit two and a half years ago.
